Rare 2-3" BEAUTIFUL NATURAL AGATIZED BAMBOO FOSSIL FROM JAVA INDONESIA #37
This 14 million old "fossil bamboo" is the result of bamboo plants being covered by volcanic ash with agate then coating the stems. The specimen is from Jawa Island (Java Island), Indonesia. Through the centuries, the masses agatized into these hollow finger-like formations. They are hollow inside because the organic material decomposed over the years, leaving only the carbonate masses.
The piece measures 2" tall by .84" wide and .6" in depth!
There are very few of these and they usually are quite expensive!
